What follows is an analysis of Android today and predictions of the future happenings of tomorrow. These predictions are informed by data cropped from Asymco.
Asymco reports that the Android activation rate is exponentially increasing. If the rate continues in the same manner as it has we would see activations reach one million a day by mid August of this year. This data has already been hammered home at MWC this year with Rubin and co pulling no punches.

In the same article Horace Dediu predicts that Android users will hit 1 Billion within five years. That would be an astonisging figure. As the Guardian point out the real question is whether this supremacy would leave any room for other players or whether it would lead to an outright monopoly. Dediu continues to forcast that by 2013 Android will have around 17% of total connections.
